The electronic music duo from Manchester, England. I’ve never been a huge electronic music fan but the Chemical Brothers are always entrancing.

The Cure

Certainly my number 1 pick from the first announcement. It looks like they’re doing the festival circuit this summer. I wonder if they’ll do any other shows in Japan. The post-punk / new wave / goth band with pop sensibilities was one that I thought I may have missed my opportunity to ever see live.

SIA

Australian singer / songwriter. I find myself completely incapable of summing up what she is, but it’s pretty amazing.

Initial Reaction to the First Announcement

My first thoughts are the I’m super excited about 1. The Cure  2. Thom Yorke 3. Cake. But there are a lot of bands in this list that I don’t know much about. I’ve got a lot of research to do in the next few weeks.

Who are you most excited about from the first announcement? I’m interested to hear whether this announcement has already convinced you to go. Or are you waiting for the next lot of bands to be announced?

Stay tuned.

03 February 2019 – 172 days to go.

News just in:

The first announcement for Fuji Rock 2019 will be on February 8th.

Which bands would you most like to see?

07 January 2019 – 199 days to go.

The Official Fuji Rock 2019 website was updated for the fist time in 2019.

All of the information so far is in Japanese. Basically it’s talking about when early bird tickets are available. The earliest discount tickets are for the full three days only. They go on sale Saturday 19 January until Sunday January 22. The ticket price is 円36,000.

These are quite a good option if you’ve already decided to go no matter what bands are announced. Full price tickets are almost 円10,000 more expensive at 円45,000.

Note: These tickets are only available through e+ ticketing, or from February 2 at Ganban reception, Tokyo.

There are then two more rounds of early ticketing.

The first round starts February 8. One day tickets are 円18,000, two day tickets are 円32,000, and three day tickets are 円39,800.

The next round starts March 8. One day tickets are 円19,000, two day tickets are 円34,000, and three day tickets are 円42,000.

Full price tickets are on sale from June 1. One day tickets are 円20,000, two day tickets are 円36,000, and three day tickets are 円45,000.

Anticipation is building…

There is now an official Fuji Rock 2019 webpage. People are making predictions and the first line-up announcement must only be a month away. In fact, the first announcement is usually in the first week of February. Getting excited.

2019 Dates

The dates for the 2019 festival are 26, 27, and 28 July.

My goal in this post, which will grow as more information is released, is to provide more travel and other important information in English. I’ll also try to keep up to date with news as it’s announced.

In the mean time, check out my previous Fuji Rock post. In this post I talk about some of the best travel and accommodation decisions you can make for attending the festival.

I hope everyone is as excited as I am. Who would you like to see at this year’s festival? Please tell me in the comments.
